Book review: The power of Now

The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle is an International Bestseller and Eckhart Tolle is a foremost spiritual leader.

This is a book I return to again and again. Why, because it lifts me and helps me realise I am not my thoughts.

“If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place. Primary reality is within; secondary reality without.”

Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

On my journey I identified that I needed to manage my own state in order to support my husband in his depression. I needed to be happy within so that my external environment didn’t bring me down.

I continue re-read this book because I do get caught up in the “what if”, I do get lost in my thoughts. I find myself listening to that voice in my head sending me off into a spin about what could or might happen in the future.

I need to come back to the Now, the Now is all there is so why worry about the future?

The Power of Now is not an easy book to read. I think that is why I combine it with the audio book. It is however a powerful book; it is truly a life changing read and well worth the effort.

It is also not a concept everyone gets the first time they read it. I didn’t, but I found it inspiring enough to return too and still do.

A friend of mine has had the same experience of it, they didn’t get it the first time but when the penny drops it is beyond words.

When you get that first moment of living in the Now you will be lifted.

I experienced the most incredible moment of Now when I was spinning, you can read about how it released me in my article, which you can find here.

I cannot recommend this book enough if you are looking to lift your state and realise you are not your thoughts. It is one you need to be focused on reading and isn’t one for escapism.
